MOOSE

The Great John Moose Reardon has gone to that big football field in the sky.  He was a giant to a whole millennium of boys.  In his honor, there will be a week of silence on this blog. But the Baron will return.

  1. Except for the Baron, I was closer to Big John than to any teacher at North Shore. He truly loved "the kids" and would do whatever it took to help them. He was The Real Thing; be grateful that you knew him. I certainly feel blessed for the connection we had.

  2. Mlinar, Birchall, Buzzy Weber, Nicolino, Marty Hansen. In these final months they were just some of many that made telephone calls to Buffalo to an ailing Coach; calls that Winny, his wife, said warmed his heart and brought smiles to his lips. Though his health was battered, it didn't stop that great sense of humor. It didn't stop him from remembering the times of his life at North Shore, or sensing the love of colleagues, friends and players that poured out in words spoken and unspoken. When the end was near, his words spoke not of great games or runs, but of love. "I loved you; all of you" is what the tough, mountain of a man softly said. When I got off the phone that last time, my tears flowed for us; all of us.
